Basándonos en lo datos de la compañía NPD Funwolrd, en E.E.U.U los ranking han sufrido un gran desbarajuste con la llegada de la nueva entrega de Pokemon Diamante para Nintendo DS, que sin esfuerzo se ha puesto en primer puesto y ha superado todas las expectativas de ventas en todos los aspectos.
Con la llegada de nuevas aportaciones al conjunto de juegos para todas las plataformas, se ha conseguido un incremento de ventas en un 52%, mientras que Nintendo DS ha aumentado significativamente, los juegos de PC se han quedado estancados aportando solo un 1% al crecimiento global.
Con la gran tirada de las sagas de los Pokemon, tanto la versión Diamond como la Pearl, se ha conseguido un 61% más de ventas respecto a sus antiguos lanzamientos. Con un aplastante 1'045 millones de unidades vendidas, Pokemon Diamod se sitúa el primero de la lista, mientras el segundo, Pokemon Pearl está vendiendo 712.000 unidades.
El otro gran vencedor fue Wii que ocupaba una 4ª posición con el titulo Super Paper Mario y Wii Play en la 5ª posición. Así no es de extrañar que los juegos para Xbox 360 y PS2 queden relegados aposiciones más bajas con las ventas de Guitar Hero II, pack con Guitarra, o que los juegos de PS3 ni aparezcan entre los 20 más vendidos.
Para PS3 el juego mejor vendido fue F.E.A.R., seguido de MotorStorm. Puede que por su corto periodo en el mercado PS3 tenga algunas dificultades para hacerse con las ventas, pero seguramente en un breve espacio de tiempo, y la salida de nuevos títulos hagas reaccionar a este coloso de Sony.
En PC, la nueva versión de El señor de los anillos: Las sombras de Angmar 2ª edición no quedo ni tan siquiera entre los 20 primeros, aunque quedó 8º en ventas de juegos exclusivamente para PC, donde en el 1er puesto está la primera versión del mismo título.
