Hoy ha tenido lugar el primero de los tres eventos que Nintendo ha decidido celebrar en todo el mundo. Su lugar ha sido Japón y en ella se han revelado tanto el precio y fecha de Wii en aquel país como otros datos relevantes para cualquier otro territorio. Finalmente la consola costará 25 000 yens (215 $, algo menos de 170 €) y estará disponible en las tiendas el 2 de diciembre del presente año. La fecha es más tardía de lo que se esperaba inicialmente, pues todas las previsiones apuntaban al mes de noviembre.

En primer lugar, Nintendo habló sobre el contenido del pack básico de la consola que estará compuesto por un Wiimote más su correa, el nunchaku, el adaptador de corriente y el de vídeo (cable multiout A/V), base para la consola, sensor, base para el sensor y dos pilas AA. De este modo, se confirma finalmente que Wii Sports no vendrá incluido con la videoconsola.

Por otra parte, el mando tendrá un precio de 3800 yens (32 $) y el nunchaku se venderá por separado a 1800 yens (15$). Los usuarios que prefieran jugar con el mando clásico podrán adquirirlo en las tiendas a 1800 yens (15 $).Y en cuanto a los juegos, Zelda estará a 6800 yens (57 $) y Wii Sports a 4800 (42 $).


The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
Wii contará con diferentes títulos el día de su lanzamiento. Como era de esperar, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess no se perderá el lanzamiento nipón de la consola. Además, estará acompañado por otros títulos de la compañía como Pokemon Battle Revolution, el nuevo juego de Wario y el citado Wii Sports. Por otro lado, Nintendo ha anunciado que el lanzamiento de Wii contará con el apoyo de títulos de diez desarrolladoras independientes a la compañía y el precio de estos títulos obscilará entre los 4800 y los 6800 yens. De la web oficial de Nintendo se han podido extraer diversos juegos que no estarán disponibles en la salida de la consola:

Más de una veintena de compañías apoyarán de partida la consola virtual
Los de la Consola Virtual tendrán tres rangos diferentes. Los de NES tendrán un precio de 500 yens (4.2 $), los de Super Nintendo estarán a 800 yens (6.70 $) mientras que los de Nintendo 64 los encontrarán a 1000 yens (8.40 $). Se podrán adquirir tanto con tarjetas prepago como con tarjetas de crédito. En el lanzamiento habrá 30 juegos de Nintendo y la misma cantidad de TurboGraph y Megadrive y se irán incluyendo una decena cada mes. Hasta la fecha de hoy, 24 compañías se han ofrecido a apoyar la consola virtual y habrá algunos juegos de otras plataformas como MSX.


Wii Channel ofrecerá diversos contenidos a través de Internet
Respecto a los servicios que ofrecerá la consola, destaca el denominado como "Wii Channel" o Canal Wii. El menú de la consola estará dividido en diversos canales como si de una televisión se tratará, que permitirán cosas acceder a la memoria interna de 512 MB o la tarjeta SD, conocer las últimas noticias o el tiempo, acceder a un servicio de compra online, consultar los juegos adquiridos de la Consola Virtual, ver fotografías y bastantes más que no han sido desvelados, pues aún los están definiendo.


Con "Wii" podremos crear nuestro propio personaje
Wii incluirá de serie una versión del navegador Opera, es decir, de la misma compañía que ha desarrollado el de Nintendo DS. Otra función adicional será la de poder hablar con los contactos conectados e incluso se podrá intercambiar imágenes entre ellos. También podremos personalizar nuestro propio personaje a modo de avatar ambientado en los muñecos de Wii Sports.


Wii tendrá de serie el navegador Opera
Nintendo también ha inaugurado durante este evento la página oficial de Wii. Por el momento, sólo se puede acceder a la sección reservada a los usuarios japoneses aunque es muy probable que a lo largo de estos días queden abiertos los espacios reservados al mercado norteamericano y europeo. Pero lo más importante aún estaba por llegar. Después de que la compañía ofreciera a los asistentes todas las cifras económicas de la consola, el auditorio fue sorprendido con un vídeo en el que aparecían futuros juegos de Wii como Zelda, Fire Emblem o el recién anunciado Resident Evil Umbrella Corps Chronicles. Tras esto, Nintendo dio por finalizada la conferencia. Sin embargo, la compañía aún tiene una cita con el mercado estadounidense y europeo..

September 13, 2006 - Nintendo fans finally have a price and release date for the company's new generation console, Wii. The Big N is set to officially announce that the system will hit retail in North and South America for $250 on November 19. The New York Times published with the story and seems, in fact, to have beaten Nintendo Co. Ltd with the news.


Nintendo's Wii console will come packaged with one Wii remote, one nunchuck attachment, an AC adapter, an audio/video cable, a sensor bar, sensor bard stand, a Wii console stand and two batteries. The US package will also come bundled with a copy of Wii Sports, a compilation sports game that best shows off the mechanics of the system's unique controller. Wii Sports features tennis, baseball, golf and previously unannounced bowling and boxing games.
Nintendo said it would provide Wii owners with more than 25 unique games this year.

Wii's much talked-about Virtual Console download service, which enables gamers to purchase classic games, will offer a library of some 30 titles when the system launches. Titles will include entries from the Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong franchises, Nintendo said. Virtual Console games will cost between $5 and $10 each. Specifically, Nintendo Co. Ltd. announced that Virtual Console games would cost 500 yen ($5), 800 yen ($8) or 1,000 yen ($10); we're presuming these prices are for NES, SNES and N64 games respectively.

The Big N confirmed that it would charge $50 for its new Wii games, which is $10 cheaper than the cost of typical Xbox 360 titles. (Please note that this is First-Party games, prices have not been announced for Third-Part Wii games -- publishers are free to set their own prices on Wii titles.)

Nintendo Co. Ltd. revealed that Wii's various controllers would be available to buy separately at launch. The Wii remote will cost 3800 yen or about $40; the nunchuck 1800 yen or about $20 and the classic controller 1800 yen or about $20.

In a surprise announcement, Nintendo said that it wanted to make Wii a living room centerpiece by shipping the system with features outside of the videogame realm. Wii will include a photo channel, enabling users to display their digital photos through the console. It will also boast regularly updated news and weather channels. In addition, the system will ship with the Opera Web browser, enabling users to connect online.

One of the channels available on Wii is called the "Mii Channel." Here, players can customize avatars by selecting from a variety of face shapes, hair styles, color schemes, and so on. The hook is that these avatars can not only be stored on the console itself, they can also be transfered to the Wii remote itself -- presumably so players can easily access their personalized characters and take them with them when playing against friends.

Sony recently announced that it would ready 400,000 PS3s in North America and another 100,000 in Japan for the system's launch. Nintendo said it plans to ship 4 million Wii units worldwide by the end of the year.

Nintendo will launch Wii in Japan on December 2 of this year for 25,000 yen, it revealed. North America will get the system first.

Nintendo of Japan has added an amazing breakdown of the Wii's various interfaces to its overseas website. Everything is in Japanese, but the videos speak for themselves. The forecast launches a virtual globe that can be spun in any direction. In the photo channel, users can load hundreds of their favorite photos and edit them in real-time. It's possible to message friends with Mii character profiles and to send pictures in messages. And the videos demonstrate surfing the Web with Wii's Opera browser.
